Women in business can benefit from the following practices. Remember to give respect to everyone you come in contact with, even those who rub you the wrong way. There are the customers who we naturally show respect and give a listening ear to. Smile and try to be helpful even if you do not offer what they want or need.

There are our sales people, who can sometimes be annoying but someday you may want them back or meet them as a future customer. Give them the common courtesy of calling in advance to cancel or change an order rather than waiting till they show up on your doorstep. If you are unhappy with the delivery, service or product give them a listening ear and at least listen and take time to consider their suggestions for improvement or changes. If you decide to take their idea give a fair time to take effect. If you say no make it clear but courtesy. If you say yes be sure you have considered the cost and the offer so that you do not have to back down at time of delivery. If you have a partner or accountant to confer with ask for time to do so and make the call back to let them know or ask them to call you after a certain time. If you do the later be sure to mark it in your calendar and have the answer. The Sales person puts a lot of time and effort and money into their preparation as you well know from your own sales and marketing.

 

There are so many ways to improve our performance and service by showing respect for the other person. Life is hard and we are all working to make it better for others as well as ourselves. If you think of ways to help others and make life easier for others along your way you will find more people are attracted to you and your business. Try a smile and a warm welcome to everyone. Common courtesies are not a thing of the past they are what we make of them. We can make them a present part of women in business. You can make the difference.
