Should I be doing three way calls with my upline?

Are you doing three way calls with your upline? What are you giving away by doing this? Find out why you want to stop doing this as soon as you can.

Today one of my success team members asked me my opinion on this quote below. It comes from some training materials that talk about attraction marketing.

This question comes from the fact that over the past few weeks we have been doing a number of three way calls with our immediate support team.

Attention:  If you’re doing 3-way calls to your upline…STOP!  Think about this for just a moment.  You have a prospect that has a few questions about the products and/or compensation plan and you tell him/her to hang on a second while you get Ralph (your upline) on the phone.  Who are you working for at this point and who becomes the expert in their field.  You got it…Ralph is now the expert and you just acted as the cog in the wheel to help grow your upline’s organization, but what have you done for your credibility as a business owner.  You COMPLETELY destroyed it.

My response:

When you first start a network marketing business you need to really step up your own personal development and training. This means reading books, listening to audios, watching videos, going to training sessions, etc. to learn as much as you can as quickly as you can.

The point is to get yourself "up to speed" as quickly as possible. In the early days if you have some great prospects and have no idea how to talk to them, then what you should be doing is saying as little as possible. In other words, you do not want to be the expert. But instead say "You should talk to <name>, she is the experts."

This technique will also help you to not come across as "salesy". If you don't know much and you're just recommending a product, then you sort of excuse yourself from the situation and wouldn't need to be on the calls.

As an alternative you could have your support team member record the calls for you to listen to afterwards as part of your training.

Once you start to feel more confident in your knowledge of the products/opportunity, then you should start pushing yourself to do these calls yourself and by yourself.
